Originally developed at Scratch Night at Theatre for the New City, JADED THE MUSICAL premiered at the DC Black Theatre Festival at the Sitar Arts Center and was later presented at The Secret Theatre in New York as part of the UNFringed Festival. Throughout its journey, the musical has continued to evolve through collaboration, performance, and the dedication of the artists who have helped bring its characters and story to life. Nicole Renee received an Honorable Mention Best Actress Award for her portrayal of Contessa, the mother, during the musical’s festival journey.
About Creator Hillary Hawkins
Hillary Hawkins is an award-winning playwright, lyricist, composer, performer, author, and narrator whose work spans theater, music, voice performance, and storytelling. Creator of JADED THE MUSICAL, Hawkins brings her original work to life across multiple formats, including the audiobook musical adaptation in which she performs every character.
Hawkins is also the creator of MOLESTATION MONOLOGUES, which achieved Amazon Best Seller status and received a Voice Arts Awards nomination for Author Performance, Best Voice Over.
A multi-hyphenate artist, Hawkins has performed in national tours and Off-Broadway productions and is known for her various Nickelodeon roles and extensive voiceover work. She voices Amal in the Emmy Award-winning series Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal. Her voice can also be heard in more than 250 audiobooks and in projects for UNICEF, UN Women, the American Red Cross, WHO, and DCFS.
Beyond the arts, Hawkins has a background in child advocacy and public service, having worked in Child Protective Services for the State of New Jersey and as a bilingual interviewer for Safe Horizon.
Through her writing, music, and performance, Hawkins continues to create stories that explore human connection, resilience, and the experiences that shape us.
